Profile

Lynda L. Calderone has extensive experience in the areas of preparation and prosecution of U.S. patent applications as well as intellectual property litigation, including patent and trademark litigation, mediation and dispute resolution. Ms. Calderone is a founding member of the firm and was previously the founding shareholder and Chair of the Intellectual Property Department at a mid-sized New Jersey law firm. Ms. Calderone serves a wide variety of clients in the areas of portfolio management, global patent prosecution, appellate and other proceedings before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office and its Patent Trial and Appeal Board, and foreign opposition practice.

Ms. Calderone concentrates her patent practice in the chemical, chemical engineering, mechanical and business method areas. Her primary technical areas of patent practice include chemical process technology; fluid handling; petrochemicals; catalysis; polymers; reinforced polymer composites; polymer fillers and polymer composite wear systems; elastomer chemistry; medical devices; drug delivery systems; controlled and sustained release polymer mechanisms; hydrogels; nanotechnology; fiber optics; metals and alloys; thermal gas recovery processes; recycling; semiconductor-related technologies; optical coatings; cosmetics and personal care formulations; pharmaceutical processing; business methods; fuel cells and a variety of manufacturing products including toys, sanitary ware, home fixtures and building materials.

Ms. Calderone is experienced in patent due diligence; various IP-related agreements, including licenses, joint development agreements, M&A documents, non-disclosure agreements, and others; and patentability, validity, infringement and unenforceability analyses. She counsels inventors and businesses from small to large in portfolio management and development of patent strategies.

A seasoned intellectual property litigator with trial experience, Ms. Calderone has successfully litigated intellectual property cases as well as prepared and prosecuted U.S. patent applications. She is also a former court-appointed mediator for the United States District Court for the District of New Jersey.

An avid writer and speaker, both for educational and legal publications and forums and on industry, legal and career panels, Ms. Calderone frequently is called upon to publish on various intellectual property-related topics and for public presentations and training.
